Clinical Applications
The indications for cross-linking (CXL) are corneal ectasia dis-
orders such as keratoconus and pellucid marginal degenera-
tion, iatrogenic keraectasia after refractive lamellar surgery
and bullous keratopathy.

State-of-the-Art Technology
The KERA-X was designed with a special focus on both sa-
fety and effectivity of the procedure, embodying the latest
knowledge in the field of corneal cross-linking (CXL):
fety and effectivity of the procedure, embodying the latest
knowledge in the field of corneal cross-linking (CXL):
- Optical system with fifty diodes for improved homogeneity
of irradiation - Integrated self-calibrating system
- Timer with acoustic reminder for precisely timed application
of riboflavin - Aiming beam with adjustable intensity
- Three spot sizes to choose for accurate application.
Increased Safety for the Patient
The KERA-X system includes several features to guarantee
safety for the patient during treatment:
safety for the patient during treatment:
- Emergency switch
- Pause/resume switch
- Safety catch
- Acoustic alarm for irradiances higher than 3 mW/cm2
- Closed loop control
The closed loop control is a unique feature of the KERA-X
which guarantees homogeneous UV-radiation during the
whole procedure and product lifetime. Without this feature the emission of UV light could vary over
time due to temperature, age, environmental conditions and power variations. The unique closed
loop control of the KERA-X solves these problems and ensures constant monitoring and if necessary
correction of the optical output.

Adjustability of all clinical parameters
The KERA-X offers adjustability of irradiation, duration
and spot size at any time. Due to the integrated display
and an ergonomic control panel all parameters are easy to
choose. The display shows the following information:
